Server Raiding

Server Raiding is a great, fun event that not only gets your clan noticed but also provides “real world” training that you won’t get anywhere else. I’m gonna show you how to pull this off in a way that will bring in new recruits without asking for them, bring other clans to your website, and provide solid training and entertainment to your team. Lets get started…

Concept:

The basic idea behind performing raids is to gather a group of your members, get on voice and pick a populated server. You then come into the game all on the same team (if possible) and proceed to lay waste to all before you. The simple shock & awe of the assault will turn heads and get your tag noticed, and after a map or two the whole team leaves and returns to your own server, leaving the other gamers bewildered and stunned.

TimeLine:

What happens before you arrive:

The server has a good few gamers, a few non clan members, and a member or two of the clan running the server. It is a normal Wednesday night and no one expects anything different. Same maps, same gameplay.

What happens when you arrive:

The excitement builds mainly because the server just filled up, EVERYONE notices that the new gamers have the same tag. Welcomes are offered.

What happens while you play:

Names and tags are being burned into memory as the local population takes notice of your team, everyone is having fun because more gamers = more fun. Friendly chatter helps to develop early relationships, and your team gets solid team-building experience in an unfamiliar environment.

What happens when you leave:

GG (Good Game) are passed out and the team departs the server. The top ranking man remains for a minute or two until all his team has left to ensure that everything is cool, then says his goodbyes and follows the team back to your server.

The population on the server drops dramatically, and those who were playing instinctively follow you out. They go looking for that tag, they go looking for YOUR server… which has just been populated by your returning team.

Conduct is Everything:

How your team conducts themselves while raiding a server will tell the other gamers a lot about your clan. It will tell them how well you handle guests, other members, and how respectful your team is. If your team gets a bad conduct review from the gamers on the server you raided, it could result in a poor reputation and ultimately harm your clan.

  • Always start your raid with a briefing on voice. Make sure everyone knows the rules, and can act mature.
  • Make sure everyone understands that being an ass or making cheating accusations will get them removed from the raiding team.
  • You are guests on someone elses server, respect the rules and playing styles of your host!
  • NEVER recruit on other servers, it is rude and WILL get your whole team banned.
  • Respect comes FIRST, never belittle or verbally attack anyone. Be the bigger man and don’t fight on the internet.

What If:

What if you cannot all be on the same team?

- Put your most experienced gamers on the same team and the newest (less skilled) on the team with the other gamers. You do this for two reasons, the first being that your younger members could use the training, and second because it allows the more skilled players to make a big impact.

What if we are accused of cheating?

- Your ranking man should speak up, let them know you are all on voice and taking the game seriously. Tell them you train on the map on your own server, and your clan has a great training program. Be happy to supply screenshots and so on…

What if someone asks questions about our tag, or wants to know our site address, wants to know if we are recruiting?

- Your team should respond as quickly as possible to these kinds of questions, and ALWAYS repeat the name of the person who asked for the information. You repeat the name because it shows in your response that you are answering the question, not advertising. It will show up on the logs as a question answered, and no one from the server owning team can ban you for answering a question if they know that is what you are doing.

Also, if you are asked if you are recruiting, you must respond with: We do not recruit on other servers. Remember respect first. Show these guys you are not so greedy for recruits that you will stoop to any level to get them. Believe me, if they are interested they will come find you.

Training:

One of the best benefits of server raiding is the training opportunities that come with it.

Consider the situation… You and your team meet up on voice and cover your basics, your rules, and find your target server. That in itself develops your teams ability to stay flexible. Next you all join the server and quickly choose a side, or perhaps even split into teams and attack on an unknown map against unknown targets. You run your game, focus on voice and pull off the best game you can… and then just as everyone starts to get comfortable, your out and headed home.

Its dramatic, spontaneous, and FUN!
